The Meaning of Dhyanaa

Dhyanaa is a beautiful Sanskrit word that means meditation; going back to basics. Going back to how it was when we were a kid where we absolutely love colours, we love patterns, we love textures, we love pretty things, we love to create, to imagine, to be curious, to explore.
At Dhyanaa, that's all that we do, what we love.

Founder's Story

I don't remember when I started having deep passion for art, colours, patterns, textures and fabrics. Everywhere I go, that's all I look at. These things captures my attention just like that, and I'm constantly adding all these to my space, my home. Every once in awhile. I feel the urge to change things up at home, like painting the wall a different colour, switching the furnitures around, getting new furnitures or something really simple like changing the colour of my bed sheet. I'm currently in the midst of deciding new colours for my room, and I'm feeling super excited!

Oh, and I recently went to a few places in India, Rajasthan, Gujarat and New Delhi. I instantly fell madly in love with India in general because it was so beautiful, so colourful, so full of life! Looking at the fine architectures of temple buildings was one of the best-est moments for me, if you guys don't know about Askhardam Temple, New Delhi, please, you HAVE TO check it out t least once in your lifetime. Never in my life have I came across anything as majestic, as detailed, as fine as this temple building. The ceilings, the dome and the craftsmanship, the time and amount of focus that went into every nook and crannies of the temple was just mind blowing and breathtaking. Imagine carving on pink sandstone and marble, I was running my fingers through the surface of the poles of the temple building and I can't help but notice how all the poles have different elements and patterns. AHHHHHH! Everything was so beautiful, words can't express how beautiful it was for me to experience being in that place.  Too bad no cameras were allowed into the area, if not I would have posted tonnes of photos here. Also, women in Rajasthan dress up in multi coloured saree and Sikh men wear really colourful turbans, the entire place looks like a colourful playground and striking pops of colour, hot pink, bright orange, yellow, chilli red, lime green. All in all, I had a fantastic time in India and I can't wait to go back again.

Hahaha! So sorry for the long story, I just felt like sharing about my love for art, colours, patterns, textures and fabrics and I express it through my collection. All the products in the store are definitely colours and patterns that I absolutely love and would put in my home. Not to forget, they are all high quality stuff too! So, all I can say is, shop happily, shop colourfully :) If you're unsure which colour/pattern that best fits for your space, you can always call/text/email us, we'll do our very best to help you out!

I am a Finance Major brought up in a family whose main income stream is through textiles. So when Tinisha ventured into this business, I was amazed as to how I was pulled to join venture with her. For I always told myself and anyone who DARED suggest me to go into the textile industry, NO WAY I am doing that! Alas one year on, this journey has been amazing. Over the past year, I have been exposed to the world of colours through Tinisha’s  eyes and her love for Bohemian style. Tinisha and I, we are total opposites. She likes colourful things, and I didn’t (well..now I do!), she likes talking to people, while me, I like numbers. That’s why we are so good together. We have been dating for 7 years, and Dhyanaa is something we have started together. It’s been a wonderful journey so far, and we have all our customers to thank for, for their unconditional support.  I am personally looking to add more beautiful products into our store and eventually brighten and colour up more peoples’ lives :)

*20% of the revenue made from each product goes to our conservation and preservation fund. To date, we have adopted two elephants, a baby elephant (Roi) in Africa and an adult elephant(Kabu) in Thailand. They're super cute! Click on their names to read their story.
